VOGELFUTTER4Flowerpot treats:

you need:

Ceramic Flowerpot
1/2lb coconut fat or palmin (lard)
1.5 pound of feed mix (chopped nuts, sunflower seeds, oatmeal, raisins and other seeds)
heavy string
2 long sticks and one bigger short stick

first you prep the flowerpot. Take your string and tie it  to your bigger short stick so you have a loop to hang your pot from. then you string that through the drain hole at the bottom of the pot. I always stuff the rest of the hole with aluminum foil so the melted fat does not leek out.

then you slowly melt the lard in a pot. Make sure you always stay with it and don’t leave your kids with the pot. Once melted stir in your feed mix and blend it well. Once that is done , carefully pour the mixture into your flowerpot. Now you can stick in the 2 long twigs and let it cool and settle.

As soon as the pot is cold and the lard hard, you can hang them outside for the birds.

Lard RingLard Rings:

you need:

1/2lb coconut fat or palmin (lard)
1.5 pound of feed mix (chopped nuts, sunflower seeds, oatmeal, raisins and other seeds)
heavy string
ring (or other cookie) cutters

You mix the same as above but instead of pouring it in a pot, prepare a cookie sheet with baking paper and cookie cutters. you can use ring cutters if you have them or just any large cookie cutter that you may have.

Then you pour the mix into the ring forms and let it cool out and get hard. then pull a heavy string through the hole tie it as loop and the rings are ready for use.
